Sheldon Phillips are working with Staffordshire County Council to recruit a Social Worker within the Duty and Assessment Team based in Cannock. This is an excellent opportunity to join a motivated and supportive service where you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families from the first point of contact.
The Duty and Assessment Team manages new referrals, undertakes assessments, and determines the most appropriate outcomes for children, working closely with families and partner agencies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Undertake robust initial and single assessments within statutory timescales
Respond to new referrals, including Section 47 investigations and strategy discussions
Work with children and families to identify strengths, risks, and support needs
Develop clear plans and recommendations to support positive outcomes
Liaise and collaborate with partner agencies including police, health, and education
Prepare high-quality reports and case records in line with council standards
Attend Child Protection Conferences, CIN meetings, and court where required
Requirements:
SWE Registration
Social Work qualification (Degree/DipSW/CQSW)
Post-qualified experience within a Duty, Assessment, or Front Door setting
Strong analytical, communication, and risk assessment skills
Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
Flexible and proactive approach to managing complex caseloads
