Assistant Manager & Personal Trainer (Part-Time) – Private Gym
Reports to: Gym Manager / Owner
Hours: Part-time Flexible ([e.g. 16–24 hours per week)
Role Summary
We’re looking for a part-time Assistant Manager & Personal Trainer to support the day-to-day running of a private gym and deliver high-quality coaching to our members.
This role is a mix of Business and Operations with hands-on PT on the gym floor.
Key Responsibilities
Assistant Manager Duties
Support the Gym Manager with day-to-day operations standards on the gym floor
Ensure the gym is clean, safe and well-presented at all times (equipment checks, cleanliness, lighting, music, atmosphere).
Handle member queries, issues and feedback professionally and promptly.
Assist with class bookings and timetables, helping to drive attendance.
Support membership sales and retention – club tours, sign-ups and basic follow-up with lapsed or at-risk members.
Help with marketing activities: open days, member events, basic social media content and partnerships with local businesses.
Ensure health & safety procedures are followed, including incident reporting and equipment checks.
Personal Training & Coaching
Deliver 1:1 and small group personal training sessions, tailored to member goals.
Carry out consultations and inductions for new members, including basic health screening and programme set-up.
Build and maintain a small but active PT client base during your part-time hours.
Design and update training programmes (fat loss, strength, performance, general fitness, confidence-building).
Provide technique coaching, motivation and basic lifestyle guidance within your remit.
Be a visible, approachable presence on the gym floor – helping with form, answering questions and engaging members.

Lead by example with a professional, positive and energetic attitude.
Contribute to a friendly, community feel – members are greeted, recognised and supported.
Share ideas to improve member experience (new class ideas, challenges, tweaks to layout or services).
Skills & Experience
Essential
Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification (or equivalent).
Previous experience as a Personal Trainer or Fitness Instructor.
Strong people skills – confident speaking to members, building rapport and encouraging uptake of services.
Comfortable with light sales activity (tours, consultations, talking about PT packages).
Good organisation and time management, able to balance ops duties with PT sessions.
Basic IT skills (booking systems, email, social media).
Genuine passion for fitness, coaching and helping people get results.
Desirable
Previous senior instructor / supervisor / duty manager experience.
First Aid qualification.
Experience delivering small group training or classes.
Confidence creating simple social media content (short videos, photos, member spotlights)
