Literacy Lead Teacher - Hillingdon

SENCare Recruitment are currently seeking a Lead Literacy Teacher for a Special Needs School in Hillingdon.

Start: ASAP

Duration: Full-time, ongoing

Hours: 8.30 - 4pm

This role provides an opportunity to lead English/Literacy as part of the school’s Middle Leadership Team. We are looking for a candidate who will take the lead to plan, co-ordinate and quality assure their given subject area to ensure that the subject is consistently well planned throughout the school, paying special attention to the structure, methodology and delivery of the learning experience. Bringing their experience of practical, experiential and therapeutic education strategies to bear, the successful candidate will ensure that our students really engage in learning and are given all the tools they need to progress.

The ideal Lead Literacy Teacher must:

* Have attained Qualified Teaching Status.

* Have experience of co-ordinating, leading and quality assuring your subject area of Literacy/English as subject Leader.

* Have experience of the National Curriculum framework.

* Have experience of working with young people with a range of learning needs and destination aims, and developing appropriate strategies to help them achieve their goals.

* Excellent communication and organisational skills with a practical approach to engaging pupils.

* Have experience of working with children/young people with special educational needs and learning disabilities who may be on the autistic spectrum.

* Have experience preparing students for examinations and assessments.

* The successful applicant will have a positive can-do attitude and good sense of humour that will make learning engaging for the students that they come into contact with.
