SEN Teaching Assistants (ASC Focus) – Primary & Secondary – Bushbury, Wolverhampton

Are you experienced in supporting young people with autism and ready to join a passionate, specialist team? We’re working closely with a well-respected specialist school in Bushbury, Wolverhampton, seeking several committed SEN Teaching Assistants to work across primary and secondary phases.

This is a full-time position in a setting that supports pupils aged 5 to 19 with ASC and associated communication and sensory needs. The school offers an incredibly nurturing environment with high staff-to-pupil ratios, ensuring each student receives personalised attention – typically 1:1 or 1:2 support.

You’ll be part of a small, focused team in classes of no more than 6–8 pupils

Work closely with teaching staff, speech & language specialists, and behaviour teams

Emphasis on routine, communication, emotional regulation, and life skills

Ideal Candidate:

*

Experience supporting learners with ASC in either a school or care setting

*

Level 2 or above in Supporting Teaching & Learning or equivalent – desirable but not essential

*

Strong understanding of sensory processing needs and communication strategies

*

Calm, consistent, and confident approach to managing behaviour and transitions

*

Able to engage pupils through routine, structure, and visual learning tools

Day-to-Day Duties:

*

Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or 1:2 basis within the classroom

*

Assisting with tailored learning activities and communication tools such as PECS or visual schedules

*

Helping pupils with personal development, social skills, and emotional regulation

*

Working closely with the teacher and therapists to implement support plans

*

Occasionally supporting with personal care or mobility needs, depending on the class
