Senior Engineer – Groundworks

We’re recruiting for an experienced Senior Engineer to join a leading civil engineering contractor working on high-value groundwork and infrastructure projects across the Birmingham area.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in groundworks, with proven experience managing teams, overseeing setting out, and ensuring works are delivered to the highest standards of safety, quality, and programme.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead day-to-day site engineering and supervise setting out for groundworks (drainage, foundations, roads, etc.)

* Coordinate with site managers, foremen, and subcontractors

* Review drawings, identify issues, and manage technical queries (RFIs/TQs)

* Ensure compliance with ITPs, QA procedures, and H&S standards

* Mentor junior engineers and support project delivery from start to finish

Requirements:

* Extensive groundworks experience in a Senior Engineer or Engineering Lead role

* Proficient in setting out using Total Station/GPS

* Strong knowledge of QA/QC and site documentation

* CSCS (White or Gold), SSSTS or SMSTS preferred

* Right to work in the UK

Desirable:

* Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or similar

* First Aid certification
