Location: Gateshead (Hybrid after probation)
Salary: £26,000 - £35,000 (DOE)

Job Description:

We are seeking a full-time Import Operator to join our busy import department. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing the full cycle of import shipments, ensuring smooth delivery of goods, customs compliance, and excellent customer service. This role requires strong organisational skills, knowledge of import processes, and the ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment.

As an Import Operator, you will:

Coordinate and manage all import shipments from booking to final delivery

Liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines, airlines, and hauliers

*

Prepare and process import documentation (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, airway bills, etc.)

*

Ensure customs compliance and handle clearance requirements (ASM Sequoia system experience beneficial)

*

Track and monitor shipments, updating clients proactively

*

Manage freight charges, duties, and invoicing accurately

*

Work closely with internal teams to ensure a smooth flow of information

Skills & Experience:

*

Experience in freight forwarding, specifically import operations (air, sea, or road)

*

Strong knowledge of customs procedures and Incoterms

*

Excellent communication and attention to detail

*

Proficiency in MS Office and freight management systems
