Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Manager – Battery Energy Storage

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Manager to oversee the operational performance, maintenance, and reliability of our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets. The ideal candidate will lead the day-to-day technical and managerial activities required to ensure optimal performance, regulatory compliance, and safety of the BESS project(s). This role is critical in supporting long-term asset performance and lifecycle optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

* Oversee all aspects of operations and maintenance for the assigned battery energy storage site(s), including routine and preventative maintenance activities.

* Ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of BESS assets in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, industry standards, and contractual obligations.

* Develop and implement O&M strategies, policies, and procedures to maximize availability, performance, and lifecycle of the energy storage system.

* Monitor system performance through SCADA and other data analytics platforms; identify and respond to performance deviations or alarms.

* Manage and coordinate onsite personnel, contractors, and vendors to execute maintenance schedules and corrective actions.

* Ensure compliance with environmental, health & safety (EHS) regulations, grid codes, and local authority requirements.

* Create the company structure of regulatory, operational, and procedural documentation needed for an operational 300MVA BESS site.

* Lead the internal or external resource to create the required documentation to complete this structure.

* Create the management strategy for the provision of the on-site operational and maintenance function, when operational.

* Collate maintenance regime details from key suppliers and create cyclic maintenance programme.

* Where required create maintenance procedures on non-supported plant and equipment.

* Create the tender and manage the outsourcing of the control room function.

* Manage the contracted Maintenance contracts, when operational.

* Manage spare parts inventory, maintenance tools, and documentation systems.

* Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) including availability, capacity factor, response time, and warranty compliance.

* Support root cause analysis (RCA) of equipment failures and performance issues; implement corrective and preventative actions.

* Maintain detailed and accurate maintenance logs, inspection reports, and compliance records.

* Collaborate with engineering and asset management teams to support performance optimization and future project upgrades

Education & Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related technical field.

* Minimum 5 years of experience in O&M, preferably in renewable energy, power systems, or energy storage systems.

* Experienced In Operations and Maintenance, with significant time in both discipline

* SAP qualified, lapsed or current, with experience with managing the interface with National Grid.

* Understanding of NESO and power scheduling

* HND minimum qualified

* Proactive, self-motivated leader
