Axon Moore are working with a well established and rapidly growing accountancy firm to recruit an Audit Senior. This firm has grown in the last 3 years and they are still hiring for growth. They offer a full audit service covering public and private sector clients and this role will cover their clients in the private sector. The successful candidate will report to an Audit Manager and will look after a portfolio of SME and large clients. You will ideally be ACA/ACCA qualified or nearly qualified and will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in Audit. We require brilliant people who are likeable, personable and enjoy working from client site. This is a hands on role, however home and office based working is also available.
Salary and Benefits - Salary £38-45k depending on experience and qualification, study support available where required. Responsibilities include:
Lead Audit Planning – Coordinate the planning phase of engagements, setting objectives, timelines, and resource needs in consultation with managers or partners.
Execute Audit Fieldwork – Perform on-site or remote testing of controls and transactions, ensuring working papers are complete and accurate for review.
Supervise Junior Staff – Delegate tasks, provide guidance, and review work to maintain high standards and adherence to audit methodology.
Act as Client Contact – Manage day-to-day communications with clients, addressing queries, providing updates, and maintaining strong relationships.
Prepare and Review Statutory Accounts – Draft and check statutory financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant reporting frameworks.
Identify and Escalate Issues – Monitor audit progress, highlight emerging risks or concerns, and liaise with senior colleagues to resolve them.
Maintain Technical Accuracy – Apply up-to-date auditing standards, accounting principles, and software skills to deliver high-quality work.
Assess Risks and Controls – Evaluate internal controls, identify weaknesses or potential misstatements, and suggest practical improvements.
Deliver Audit Findings – Compile and present clear reports and summaries of audit results for manager or partner review, and discuss them with clients when appropriate.
Support Business Development – Promote the firm’s services through excellent client service and contribute to building long-term client relationships.
Experience & Skill Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Audit
ACCA/ACA qualified or nearly qualified is essential. Study support will be offered where required.
Fluent with various accounting systems and Excel to a strong standard
Hands on and happy to work balance a mix of client site, office and home based working in this role
Ability to multi-task, prioritise work and meet deadlines
Demonstrate accuracy and pay attention to detail
Work in a mature, courteous and professional manner
Strong interpersonal skills – approachable and down to earth with good communication skills
