This role is ideal for an experienced teacher or current second-in-department who is passionate about English, curriculum development, and raising standards for all learners.

The successful Head of English will:

Lead and develop a high-performing English department across KS3-KS5
Drive outstanding teaching, learning, and outcomes in English
Design and implement an ambitious, engaging curriculum
Support, coach, and inspire members of the English team
Monitor progress, use data effectively, and implement strategies for improvement
Play a key role in whole-school development as a middle leaderPerson specification:

Qualified teacher with QTS and a specialism in English
Proven experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
Evidence of strong classroom practice and excellent behaviour management
Experience in, or readiness for, a leadership or management role
Highly organised, reflective, and committed to continuous improvement
