Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant (LSA) to support pupils across various stages of learning. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring children’s educational, emotional, and physical development is supported effectively in the classroom setting. This role involves working under the direction of class teachers and SENCOs to assist individual and small group learning, particularly for pupils with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Support for Pupils:

Provide one-on-one and small group support tailored to students’ educational and emotional needs.
*
Assist pupils with physical, medical, or behavioural challenges.
*
Promote independence, self-esteem, and confidence in learning.
*
Escort and supervise pupils during school trips, activities, and transitions.
*
Support pupil behaviour in line with school policies.
Support for Teachers:
*
Prepare learning materials and classroom equipment.
*
Differentiate instructions and resources to support individual learning needs.
*
Supervise and engage pupils in activities in the teacher’s absence.
*
Provide feedback and record-keeping support to teaching staff.
*
Encourage positive behaviour and promptly report concerns.
Support for the School:
*
Attend and contribute to team meetings and training.
*
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and professionals.
*
Liaise effectively with parents and carers, ensuring good communication channels.
*
Support assessments, progress reviews, and the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Support for the Curriculum:
*
Help implement lesson plans and curriculum-based activities.
*
Assist pupils with the use of ICT and educational software.
*
Monitor pupil engagement and provide feedback to staff.
*
Promote inclusive learning, respecting language, cultural diversity, and individual needs.
Requirements:
Knowledge & Understanding:
*
Planning and evaluating learning activities.
*
Understanding of school behaviour and safeguarding policies.
*
Awareness of confidentiality, Health & Safety, and equal opportunity legislation.
Qualifications & Experience:
*
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar educational setting, with willingness to work towards NVQ Level 2.
*
Previous experience supporting children with special educational needs is highly desirable.
Appraisal & Development:
The successful candidate will take part in induction, regular supervision, and annual performance reviews. Ongoing professional development and training will be supported.
