Smart Education is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join a supportive alternative provision in the Middlesbrough area. This role offers the opportunity to teach students aged 11–16 who face a range of challenges, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD).

In this setting, you won’t just be teaching—you’ll be empowering students with practical knowledge, self-belief, and the curiosity to explore the world around them. Your lessons will inspire, engage, and provide structure for learners who benefit from a nurturing and consistent approach.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging and practical Science lessons tailored to varied learning needs

Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment

Differentiate content for students with a range of learning profiles

Collaborate with SENCOs, support staff, and pastoral teams

Encourage emotional regulation and positive behaviour in the classroom

What We’re Looking For:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent

Strong subject knowledge in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or general)

Experience working with additional needs, preferably in SEN, PRU, or alternative settings

Effective classroom and behaviour management skills

A patient, adaptable, and positive teaching approach

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

A passion for making science accessible and inspiring

What You’ll Receive:
