Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join Wirral Council on an initial 3-6 month temporary contract. This is a full-time role working 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Key responsibilities include:

Assisting with financial reporting, budget setting, and forecasting

Supporting the analysis of financial data and trends
*
Contributing to year-end accounts preparation
*
Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and local government regulations
*
Helping to improve financial systems and reporting processes
About you:
You will be AAT-qualified (or equivalent) with experience in financial monitoring and reporting. A good understanding of financial management principles, strong Excel skills, and excellent communication abilities are essential. Experience in local government finance is desirable.
