Leicestershire County Council is recruiting a skilled Children and Family Services (CFS) Social Worker to join their Child Protection Team based in Wigston. This is a high-impact role working with children and families under Child Protection and Pre-Proceedings plans.
The post offers hybrid working, with an expectation to attend the office when required. You’ll hold a manageable caseload of up to 16 complex CP cases, working alongside a strong team with excellent management oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
Hold and manage a caseload of up to 16 children under CP and pre-proceedings
Undertake robust assessments and develop child-centred protection plans
Work within the PLO framework and contribute to legal planning
Maintain accurate and timely records
Work collaboratively with families and multi-agency professionals to reduce risk
Practice Model:
This team operates under a structured safeguarding framework with a strong focus on permanence, timely interventions, and keeping families together where safe and possible. You’ll be expected to step into a fast-paced role with confidence and competence.
Essential Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
Minimum 3 years of permanent Local Authority experience (as per agency regulations – non-negotiable)
Proven experience in child protection and pre-proceedings work
Excellent understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practice
Strong assessment, report-writing, and risk management skills
