Hirexo are partnering with a high-growth, PE/VC-backed consumer manufacturing business based in Manchester. With a proven track record of exceptional EBITDA performance and robust year-on-year revenue growth, the company is entering its next phase of scale-up. As part of its strategic leadership expansion, we are seeking a commercially astute and technically strong Finance Director to lead financial strategy, performance management, and investor reporting.
About Our Client:
Our client is a disruptive and agile business within the consumer products and manufacturing sector, operating a multichannel model with national distribution. Backed by well-regarded private equity and venture capital investors, the business has scaled significantly over the last three years and is now focused on embedding financial discipline while enabling further growth through M&A activity, systems integration, and international expansion planning. With a central Manchester HQ, they are recruiting for a Finance Director to support their continued trajectory through data-driven decision-making and strategic financial control.
The Opportunity for the Finance Director:
This newly created Finance Director role is critical to shaping financial governance, driving commercial insight, and preparing the business for future fundraising or exit. Reporting directly to the CEO and working alongside a high-calibre executive team, you will oversee FP&A, cash flow forecasting, investor communications, and compliance, while ensuring rigorous financial control frameworks are embedded across the business.
This is a permanent, full-time role based fully onsite in Manchester, with significant influence on strategic and operational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities for the Finance Director:
Lead the full spectrum of finance operations including financial planning and analysis (FP&A), treasury management, and statutory reporting.
Own the development of robust budgeting and reforecasting cycles, using scenario planning, variance analysis, and performance KPIs to inform board-level decision-making.
Act as the key liaison for private equity and venture capital stakeholders, producing investment-grade financial reporting and contributing to investor relations strategy.
Deliver operational excellence across core finance functions including cash flow optimisation, working capital management, and audit readiness.
Develop and refine internal controls, risk management protocols, and compliance with IFRS/UK GAAP standards.
Drive automation and systems improvements across ERP platforms and financial reporting tools, aligning data infrastructure with strategic needs.
Support potential M&A activity including deal structuring, financial due diligence, valuation modelling, and post-deal integration.
Build, coach, and lead a high-performing finance team, instilling a culture of accountability, transparency, and commercial focus.
What You’ll Need to Succeed as the Finance Director:
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with extensive post-qualified experience in a growth-focused SME or mid-market business.
Prior experience in a PE-backed, VC-backed, or high-growth environment is essential, ideally within manufacturing, FMCG, or consumer goods sectors.
Demonstrable capability in leading on strategic financial planning, board reporting, and external investor engagement.
Strong technical understanding of financial reporting standards, tax planning, treasury, and regulatory compliance.
Track record of implementing and improving financial systems, controls, and process automation (e.g. ERP upgrades, BI dashboards).
Commercial acumen with the ability to challenge assumptions, model business scenarios, and support strategic investment decisions.
Experience with M&A transactions, including financial modelling, integration planning, and stakeholder communication.
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to influence across C-suite and manage cross-functional teams in high-growth settings.
