About this Role

Protocol Education is looking to appoint an exceptional KS3 SEND Teacher to join one of our SEMH SEND School as soon as possible or from 01/09/24.

Post: KS3 SEND Teacher

Location: Gloucestershire, GL11

FTE Salary Range: MPS1 - UPS3 + SEN allowance £2,539 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent, full time

Contract Hours: 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

About the role

We are looking to recruit an exceptional teacher to join our team. You’ll join a team of dedicated SEND professionals. If you are a primary-trained or foundation subject specialist who would like to deliver a broader subject base to 1 or 2 KS3 groups, this could be the role for you.  Their pupils can often struggle with transitions; by reducing the number of teachers working with them we can further support their SEMH needs. You will lead, monitor and support the overall progress and development of students’ foundation subject knowledge (with the exception of technology subjects), facilitating and encouraging a learning experience which provides our students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.

About the successful candidate

You’ll need to be a team player and collaborator, sharing ideas and strategies with colleagues whilst learning from them, and reflecting on what has and (sometimes!) hasn’t worked and seeking improvement through solution focused practice.  You will be committed to working in a rapidly improving SEMH school, within an ambitious trust, committed to the individual needs of its pupils.

We know that many of their young people will have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACE’s) and often early childhood trauma, as well as negative experiences in their education and schooling before they reach us. Therefore, the provision is based around a strong curriculum base and draws on trauma informed practice and the utilisation of nurture approach practices to meet need.

About the School

The school is a day specialist provider of education in Gloucestershire for children and young people aged from 11 to 16 years who have an SEMH profile. There are currently 60 pupils on roll but, in partnership with the LA we are working to diversify both number and age range.

The aim is to build safe independent lives for the SEMH population through a process of understanding, support, and enablement. To achieve this goal the school looks at the unique impact social, emotional, and mental health experiences has on the individual child. From this the aim as a school to personalise the child’s curriculum, care, and therapeutic package to ensure every child achieves and experiences success and independence.

This is a unique opportunity to not only join the team, but also to work for a Trust within a framework of specialist provision. The Trust, their schools, and pupils require teachers who are looking to be innovative, bold, and collaborative.  You can help to design your pupil’s curriculum and influence their future. Your work will always be challenging and rewarding as a part of the SEND Specialist team.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
