Chef – Trenchard Line (ESS – Compass Group)

⏰ Hours: 40 hours per week (full-time, site-based)
Shift Pattern: 5 days over 7 – working one weekend in four

About the RoleWe’re looking for a skilled and motivated Chef to join our catering team at Trenchard Line, part of ESS – Compass Group.
You’ll be responsible for preparing and serving fresh, high-quality meals in a take-out style service, supporting a close-knit team that delivers excellent food and service standards for around 30–60 Service Personnel per meal.

Numbers can increase during functions, exercises, or when more personnel are on site, so flexibility and teamwork are key.

Shift PatternEarly Shift: 06:30 – 14:30

Late Shift: 12:00 – 20:00

Working one weekend in four

Meal Service Times Breakfast: 07:15 – 08:30
Lunch: 12:30 – 13:30
️ Dinner: 18:00 – 19:30

The TeamWhen fully staffed, our kitchen team includes:
‍ 2 Chefs
‍ 1 Head Chef
‍ 1 Supervisor
‍♀️ 2 Front of House staff

You’ll be joining a supportive, hands-on team that takes pride in delivering great food and service every day.

What We’re Looking For✅ Previous experience in a catering or chef role – essential
Relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) – desirable
Strong knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Flexible, reliable, and positive attitude
