Senior Manager Work Control
Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.
Package: £63,630 - £100,570 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)
Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. We will consider flexible working requests. Just let us know your preferred working pattern on your application.
Hybrid working options will be available for this role on an informal, non-contractual basis. There will however, be an expectation that time spent in the office will meet at least 60% of your working hours.
Travel to our site in Burghfield will also occasionally be needed for meetings and there could potentially be the need for travel to partner sites in the USA, although this is only expected to be once or twice a year.
Let us introduce the role
AWE is currently recruiting for a Senior Manager to provide senior leadership and management of AWE Work Control arrangements, including Licence Condition 26/Authorisation Condition 26 (LC/AC), compliance and improvement activities. You will also provide a link to regulatory bodies, acting as the lead for any associated Regulatory Issues
This bespoke role is ideally suited to someone with exceptional stakeholder management experience and who has the ability to be a strong influencer and collaborative worker who can maintain independence of thought.
The successful candidate will be directly responsible for:
Influence ways of working across Business Units to ensure effective execution of Work Control across AWE to the arrangements.
Own Work Control/LC/AC26 arrangements and provide SME advice on Work Control and LC/AC26 compliance.
Conducting second-line checks and ensuring compliance against expectations and regulations
Ensure appropriate reporting of updates and metrics, into key meetings (Exec, regulatory, functional, etc.)
Ensuring Work Supervisory Skills Competency arrangements are discharged, and that appropriate, demonstrable records are retained.
Sponsor investigations into learning from Work Control Events, as required.
Who are we looking for?
We need you to demonstrate experience in the following:
Effective Stakeholder Management
Delivered large / corporate level change programmes.
Good awareness of operations and programme delivery (and hence first-hand experience of work control needs and arrangements), and regulatory compliance environments.
Exposure at Board level and the ability to influence and gain commitment from senior management.
Track record of driving delivery, continuous improvement and sustained performance.

We'd like you to have experience in some of the following:
Good awareness of the regulatory framework at AWE.
Knowledge of the external marketplace - what is going on outside of AWE and its influence and impact on the Programme.
Degree level qualification in a relevant subject and/or suitable vocational qualification (HNC or equivalent) and/or extensive practical experience in an operational role
Business acumen to provide strategic and tactical insight and thinking depending on the needs of the business.
Strong people leadership skills, with a focus on personal development
Able to build good working relationships, and influence and gain commitment from the regulators on proposed programmes of work.
You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.

You will need to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE. The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years in order to apply for SC clearance and 10 years for DV.
