The Role:
A respected civil engineering contractor is seeking a skilled Project Manager to lead the delivery of infrastructure schemes across the Cambridge and Peterborough region. The Project Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end management of multiple projects, with a strong focus on highways, flood defence, and water infrastructure.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and wants to play a key role in delivering essential public infrastructure. The successful Project Manager will oversee all phases of project execution, from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and commercial targets.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the planning and delivery of civil engineering projects, acting as the primary Project Manager on site
*
Manage internal site teams and subcontractors to ensure efficient delivery and workforce coordination
*
Develop and implement construction phase plans, RAMS, and project-specific management documentation
*
Monitor costs, track budgets, and support commercial functions to ensure financial targets are met
*
Lead project programming, identifying and mitigating risks proactively
*
Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and delivery partners throughout the project lifecycle
*
Provide leadership and mentoring to junior staff and engineers
*
Ensure all site activities align with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
Candidate Requirements:
*
Demonstrable experience working as a Project Manager in the civil engineering or infrastructure sector
*
Strong background in delivering highways, flood defence, or water-related projects
*
Proficient in contract management (preferably NEC) and project controls
*
Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders
*
SMSTS and CSCS (essential)
*
Relevant qualifications such as HND, HNC or a degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
