Management Accountant / Financial Accounts Assistant
Earls Colne (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home)
£35,000 – £45,000 (DOE)

We are working on behalf of a well-established and growing business in Earls Colne to recruit a Management Accountant. This is a business-critical role, supporting financial control, accuracy and operational continuity across the organisation. The role would suit someone with strong hands-on construction or contracting experience, who is comfortable owning day-to-day finance processes while contributing to management reporting and cashflow control.

Key Responsibilities (6 core areas):

Ownership of day-to-day financial operations including sales invoicing (Simpro to Xero), purchase ledger, CIS subcontractors and payroll processing
Full responsibility for bank, credit card and balance sheet reconciliations, VAT returns and urgent/ad-hoc payments
Preparation of weekly payment runs, cash position reporting and inputs into short-term cashflow forecasting
Month-end duties including journals, WIP and revenue recognition, project cost tracking and management accounts data
Financial support to the wider business including labour recovery rates, CVRs, budgets, reforecasts and post-completion reviews
Maintaining accurate data for KPIs, dashboards, audits, statutory accounts and continuous system/process improvementsQualifications & experience:

AAT qualified, part-qualified (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) or qualified by experience
Ongoing study support may be considered, but practical experience is valued equally
Strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles, month-end processes and financial controls
Proven experience in a Management Accountant or senior finance role within a construction, contracting or project-based environment
Strong working knowledge of CIS, subcontractor payments, payroll and project cost controlThis role is fundamental to control and stability, therefore early onboarding and prior experience within a construction or project-based environment is highly desirable.
