Civil Design Engineer - Birchwood

Our client are a North West based, regional-level and privately-owned house builder. They're known throughout the NW region for delivering quality family homes with some real character and traditional looking features.
Due to continued growth & expansion, their Technical team are looking to bolster their ranks with the acquisition of an in-house experienced Civil Design Engineer.

Role Overview:

As a key member of their technical team, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of projects, working alongside Technical and Land teams.
Reporting directly to the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for the hands-on execution of civil design concepts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimising efficiency through value engineering principles.
This role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact within the organisation and contribute to the enhancement of processes and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare civil design concepts for site feasibilities, including ground modelling when necessary.
Develop technically complete civil design packages for new developments.
Demonstrate proficiency & experience around design software for highways, drainage, and earthworks.
Obtain full technical approvals (e.g., S278/S38/S104/S185) from relevant authorities such as highway, water authorities, and LLFA.
Collaborate with the Architectural Manager to provide design information for Planning and Building Regulations submissions and discharge.
Foster a close working relationship with our Development Engineer on both new and ongoing projects.
Liaise with Structural Engineers on schemes involving structural elements like culverts, bridges, and highway retaining structures.
Address queries from Commercial, Sales, and Site teams regarding design elements, ensuring compliance through site visits when necessary.
Engage with external consultants as needed to support project requirements.Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Proven experience in civil design, preferably within the land and property development sector.
Proficiency in design software for highways, drainage, and earthworks (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and approval processes (e.g., S278/S38/S104/S185).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and external stakeholders.
Proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail.
