Generator Engineer

Northwest (area-based with some UK travel)

£43,500 to £48,000k  + Overtime (OTE £65k) + Van

NEOS Engineering are partnered with a market leader in the Power Generation sector who are seeking two experienced Generation Engineers (Mechanical) to join their national field service team. If you’re an overhaul wizard with a knack for keeping reciprocating generators purring, this is for you.

Key Responsibilities:

Take the lead on overhauling large reciprocating internal combustion generators — up to 2.5MWe.
Replace worn components including cylinder heads, pistons, liners, turbos, exhaust systems and more.
Carry out planned maintenance, diagnose faults, and minimise downtime.
Keep stock levels healthy and order parts as needed to keep operations smooth.
Support and guide operations staff during servicing, breakdowns and repairs, passing on knowledge to build a stronger team.
Reduce the reliance on external contractors by being the in-house go-to expert.
Stay committed to Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards — it’s non-negotiable.
Manage your travel and time efficiently, with overnight stays when required to minimise travel faff.
Requirements:

Solid hands-on experience leading overhauls of reciprocating generators in a field service role.
Knowledge of MWM, CATCG or MTU kit is a massive plus.
Confident with mechanical, electrical and heat systems maintenance.
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills — you know how to sort issues first time.
Full UK driving licence and computer literate.
Bonus points for GasSafe accreditation (or willingness to get it), 18th Edition, or HV Switching — extra cash for these certs too!
