Freelance Mechanical Supervisor

Decarbonisation Project – Commercial Buildings

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Mechanical Supervisor to oversee mechanical works on a large-scale decarbonisation project within existing commercial buildings.

This role is ideal for a supervisor with experience in energy efficiency upgrades, plant replacement, and low-carbon heating systems within live environments.

The Role

Supervise mechanical installations including plant replacement, pipework modifications, HVAC upgrades, and low-carbon systems

*

Oversee installation of air source / ground source heat pumps, upgraded boiler systems, and associated distribution pipework

*

Coordinate subcontractors and specialist installers

*

Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification

*

Manage works within live buildings, maintaining minimal disruption

*

Conduct toolbox talks and ensure strict H&S compliance

*

Liaise with Project Managers, consultants, and client representatives

*

Monitor quality, testing, commissioning, and handover processes

Requirements

*

Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor on decarbonisation or energy upgrade projects

*

Strong background in commercial plant rooms and HVAC systems

*

Experience with heat pump installations and low-carbon technologies

*

SSSTS or SMSTS

*

CSCS Supervisor/Manager card

*

Strong understanding of health & safety and compliance procedures

*

Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
