Engineering Manager (Process & Product engineering) – Tier 1 COMAH Site, Wirral
Salary: Up to £90,000 + 10% bonus + attractive pension + benefits

We are supporting a chemical manufacturing business with the appointment of an Engineering Team Manager (Process & Product engineering) for their large-scale Tier 1 COMAH site in Wirral. This is a newly created role leading the Process and Project Engineering teams, with accountability for technical excellence, project delivery, and process safety.

This is a pivotal role in the site’s transformation agenda, leading a significant portfolio of capital projects (£10–20m annually), embedding stronger engineering processes, and building a culture of accountability and ownership within the team.

We are looking for a degree-qualified Chemical Engineer with strong expertise across process and project engineering in highly regulated industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, or food manufacturing. You’ll bring solid knowledge of process safety regulations (COMAH, DSEAR and related standards) and a track record of delivering complex capital and improvement projects in technical, regulated environments. Experience of leading engineering teams and driving performance improvements will be key.

Equally important is leadership capability. The team is technically capable but needs clear direction, structure, and motivation. You’ll be expected to unite and lead the group, inspire confidence, and create momentum behind the transformation programme.
