Full-Time Permanent Music Teacher Required - Leading Independent Essex School (September 2025 Start - Key Stage 3, 4 & 5 Essential)
Our leading independent school in Essex seeks a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Permanent Teacher of Music to join our thriving department and make a profound difference to the musical expression, technical skills, and academic understanding of our students across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and, crucially, Key Stage 5, commencing in September 2025.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Planning, preparing, and delivering highly effective and stimulating Music lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs and high aspirations of our students across all key stages.
* Fostering students' deep understanding of key musical concepts, theoretical principles, and the practical application of musical skills (performance, composition, listening), with a strong emphasis on the comprehensive demands of the A-Level specifications.
* Encouraging rigorous analytical listening, confident practical performance (instrumental and/or vocal), and the creation of original and imaginative compositions.
* Assessing and tracking student progress in Music across all key stages, providing insightful and constructive feedback, and implementing effective intervention strategies to ensure excellent outcomes, particularly for A-Level students.
* Contributing actively to the development, implementation, and rigorous review of the Music curriculum across all key stages, ensuring alignment with examination specifications and providing extensive opportunities for musical enrichment.
* Utilising and contributing to the development of high-quality Music resources, including practice rooms, recording studios, music technology suites, and a diverse collection of instruments.
* Contributing to a wide range of extracurricular activities that promote musical engagement within the school community (e.g., leading ensembles, conducting choirs, organising concerts, supporting musical theatre productions).
* Collaborating effectively with colleagues within the Music department and across the wider school to foster a rich and interdisciplinary learning environment.
* Engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice and keep abreast of current developments in music education and the broader musical world, with a strong focus on A-Level teaching and assessment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
* A degree in Music or a closely related highly relevant musical field.
* Successful and demonstrable experience teaching Music across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE), and, crucially, A-Level.
* A strong and up-to-date understanding of the A-Level Music curriculum and relevant examination specifications.
* Exceptional pedagogical skills and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, particularly the academic rigour and depth required at Key Stage 5.
* A profound passion for Music and the ability to inspire and stretch students' creative thinking, practical skills, and analytical understanding.
* Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
