Join the local Council’s Waste Management Team as a Class 2 HGV Refuse Driver. This hybrid role involves operating a refuse collection vehicle and assisting with physical waste collection tasks. While driving is required, much of the role involves refuse loading duties.
Key Responsibilities
Driving: Operate a Class 2 refuse lorry safely in residential and urban areas.
Manual Handling: Load and unload bins and waste materials; assist other loaders as needed.
Teamwork: Collaborate with other crew members to complete routes efficiently.
Health & Safety: Follow all relevant safety protocols while driving and loading.
Customer Interaction: Represent the Council professionally when engaging with the public.
Essential Requirements
A valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) driving licence
At least 2 years of experience driving Class 2 vehicles
Valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
Valid digital tachograph card
Physically capable of manual work and loading duties
Willingness to alternate between driving and loading tasks
Team-oriented, reliable, and safety-conscious
Previous experience in refuse collection or similar physical work is a plus (not essential)
Pay & Benefits
Pay Rate: £13.50 per hour, with potential increases over time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Training: Full training provided
