Neos Engineering are partnered with a leading provider of construction plant hire services, supporting clients across the Midlands with a broad fleet of machinery and equipment. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a proactive and experienced Yard Operative to be based at their Walsall depot.

The Role

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with previous experience in a busy plant hire or construction yard. You’ll be responsible for preparing, maintaining, and organising machinery and equipment to ensure it's ready for hire or return.

Key responsibilities include:

Cleaning and preparing plant machinery and equipment for hire

Assisting with loading and unloading machines safely

Conducting basic visual checks and reporting faults

Moving machines around the yard using appropriate equipment

Keeping the yard clean, organised, and compliant with H&S guidelines

Supporting engineers and delivery drivers when needed

The Candidate

We’re looking for someone dependable, practical, and confident working with heavy equipment in a fast-paced yard environment.

You will ideally have:

Experience in a yard, plant hire, or construction-related role

Good mechanical awareness or basic equipment knowledge

A forklift (FLT) licence – desirable but not essential

A strong understanding of site safety and manual handling

A positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to learn and support others

Reliable transport to and from site due to location
