An Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ secondary academy in Reading is seeking a strategic, compassionate and highly capable SENCO to join its senior leadership team from September. The school has a strong track record of inclusivity and student achievement, and is particularly praised for its SEND provision and pastoral care.

This is a whole-school leadership position involving oversight of SEND across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, with responsibilities including managing EHCPs, developing intervention programmes, liaising with external agencies, and supporting staff in inclusive teaching practices. The school employs a large team of skilled LSAs, behaviour mentors and counsellors, and your leadership will be central to embedding best practice in all classrooms.

The ideal candidate will hold the National SENCO Award (or be working towards it), have experience of leading SEND in a mainstream or specialist setting, and demonstrate an unwavering commitment to ensuring every pupil receives the support they need to thrive.
