Learning Support Assistant

Mainstream Primary School - Uxbridge

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Learning Support Assistant to work closely with pupils who require additional academic or pastoral support. The role involves providing structured, targeted interventions to help pupils access the curriculum, build confidence, and develop independence in their learning.

You will support pupils across different year groups, working both 1:1 and in small groups, and may be expected to provide support across all key stages from EYFS to KS2, depending on the needs of the school. You will work closely with class teachers and the SEN team to ensure effective support strategies are in place.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver focused learning interventions under the guidance of the class teacher or SENCo

* Provide learning support across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 as required

* Support pupils to engage with lessons and complete learning tasks

* Adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning needs

* Support pupils with attention, communication, and emotional regulation

* Encourage positive behaviour and independence

* Record observations and contribute to pupil progress reviews

* Support pupils during transitions and structured school activities

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

* Experience supporting children with SEN

* A flexible and adaptable approach to working across year groups

* A calm, supportive, and consistent manner

* Strong communication and teamwork skills

* valid enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (UDS), or be willing to apply for one

* Trained in PECS and Makaton

* Relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 LSA or TA) are desirable but not essential
