Are you a patient, resilient, and proactive Teaching Assistant with proven experience in managing and supporting positive behaviour in children?
We are seeking an exceptional 1:1 Teaching Assistant with a strong behaviour support focus to join our dedicated team in Blackpool. This is a crucial 1-year fixed-term contract role, providing targeted academic and behavioural support to an individual student who requires consistent guidance and positive strategies to thrive in their learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Individualised Behaviour Support: Implement agreed-upon behaviour plans and strategies effectively on a 1:1 basis, responding to and de-escalating challenging behaviours calmly and consistently.
Positive Reinforcement: Proactively encourage and reinforce positive behaviours, helping the student develop self-regulation and coping mechanisms.
Academic Support: Provide tailored in-class learning support to ensure the student can access the curriculum and achieve their academic potential, adapting resources as needed.
Relationship Building: Develop a strong, trusting, and professional rapport with the student, fostering a sense of security and encouraging engagement.
Collaboration: Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, parents/carers, and other external professionals (e.g., Educational Psychologists, Behaviour Support Teams) to ensure a consistent and holistic approach.
Observation & Reporting: Accurately observe and record the student's behaviour patterns, triggers, and responses, contributing to reviews and the refinement of support plans.
Social & Emotional Development: Support the student in developing social skills, managing emotions, and building positive relationships with peers and adults.
Safeguarding: Uphold the school's robust safeguarding policies and procedures at all times, ensuring the welfare and safety of the student.
Who We Are Looking For:
We are seeking a calm, patient, resilient, and highly adaptable individual who is passionate about making a positive difference to a child's learning and behaviour.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Behaviour Management: Proven experience working with children or young people who display challenging behaviours, ideally within a school or educational setting.
De-escalation Skills: Demonstrated ability to remain calm and apply effective de-escalation techniques in challenging situations.
Communication: Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong rapport and convey clear expectations.
Patience & Empathy: A high degree of patience, empathy, and understanding of the underlying causes of challenging behaviour.
Proactive Approach: Ability to anticipate potential issues and implement proactive strategies to prevent escalation.
Teamwork & Initiative: Ability to work effectively as part of a team (including teachers, SENCo, and external specialists) and also independently with the student.
Record Keeping: Good organisational skills for maintaining accurate and concise records of observations and interventions.
Safeguarding: A robust understanding of child protection and safeguarding principles in a school environment (an Enhanced DBS check will be required upon appointment).
Qualifications: Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) or equivalent experience.
Desirable (but not essential):
Specific training in behaviour management strategies (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA, Restorative Justice, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention).
Experience supporting students with specific Special Educational Needs (e.g., ADHD, ASC/Autism, SEMH - Social, Emotional, Mental Health difficulties).
