This lead position involves directing a skilled design team to create and deliver diverse machinery, including standard, configured, and bespoke solutions. You'll play a critical role in collaborating across departments to ensure projects are delivered efficiently on budget, and to precise quality standards.
Job Responsibilities
* Plan, manage, and oversee design projects from start to finish, coordinating timelines and managing multiple high-priority tasks to ensure deadlines and budgets are met while maintaining high quality.
* Design detailed and complex systems with precision, performing advanced simulations and leading impactful design optimization projects with sustainability and cost in mind.
* You'll also utilize Design for Manufacture and Value Engineering techniques, ensuring designs and details adhere to ISO standards.
* Maintain comprehensive documentation of all design activities, prepare and present regular progress reports, and ensure proper filing and accessibility of technical documents.
* Work closely with production, software/electrical, quality, and aftersales departments, as well as external partners and suppliers, to ensure seamless integration of design efforts and problem-solving.
* Produce product/component designs, from concept through to manufacturing readiness, using a high-end 3D CAD package.
Skills Requires
* Qualification in HNC/HND in a technical area, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
* In-depth knowledge of design and manufacturing techniques.
* Proven experience in bespoke machine design, a successful track record of managing and delivering projects, and prior commissioning and site experience.
* Proficient use of SolidWorks, with the ability to utilize appropriate calculations and formulas to support design ideas.
