? About the Role

We're seeking a skilled and experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) / Child Protection Chair (CP Chair) to join our team in Staffordshire on a short-term assignment.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families across the county ?

You'll bring strong leadership, safeguarding knowledge, and a deep understanding of statutory responsibilities to ensure every child's voice is heard and every plan meets the highest standards.

? Key Responsibilities

? Advocacy for Children - Ensure every child's wishes and feelings are central to planning and decision-making.
? Quality Assurance of Care Planning - Oversee robust, timely, and effective care plans that reflect each child's needs and aspirations.
? Chairing Reviews & Conferences - Lead statutory Looked-After Children Reviews and Child Protection Conferences with professionalism and sensitivity.
⚖️ Decision-Making - Make informed decisions about Child Protection Plans in line with policy and legislation.
? Escalation & Challenge - Confidently escalate concerns where statutory expectations aren't met.
?️ Monitoring & Progress Tracking - Ensure care and protection plans progress effectively, avoiding drift or delay.
? Statutory Compliance - Operate in line with the IRO Handbook (2010), Children Act 1989, and relevant national guidance.
? Restorative Practice - Communicate effectively and collaboratively to build trust and positive outcomes.

? Requirements

✅ Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar IRO/CP Chair role.
✅ In-depth understanding of safeguarding, care planning, and statutory responsibilities.
✅ Ability to manage complex caseloads and work independently.
✅ Strong decision-making, communication, and analytical skills.
✅ Registered with Social Work England and eligible to work in the UK.
