We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Furniture Framer to join our team. This role is crucial in the production of high-quality furniture, with a particular focus on crafting frames for sofas, beds, and other upholstered pieces. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in woodworking and carpentry, with the ability to work with various materials, including wood, metal, and composite materials. Your work will lay the foundation for the final product, ensuring durability, comfort, and aesthetic appeal.
## Responsibilities
- **Frame Fabrication and Assembly**: Construct and assemble frames for sofas, beds, and other furniture, ensuring structural integrity and adherence to design specifications.
- **Precision Joinery**: Utilize advanced woodworking techniques, including mortise and tenon, dowel joints, and other joinery methods, to ensure precise alignment and a solid frame structure.
- **Material Handling**: Select and work with a variety of materials, such as hardwoods, softwoods, plywood, and metal components, to create frames that meet durability and design requirements.
- **Reinforcement and Finishing**: Perform tasks such as adding reinforcement to high-stress areas, sanding, and applying treatments to protect the frame from wear and tear.
- **Upholstery Preparation**: Prepare frames for upholstery by ensuring all surfaces are smooth, edges are rounded, and all necessary components are securely attached.
- **Collaboration and Communication**: Work closely with the design and upholstery teams to ensure that frames meet aesthetic and functional requirements, providing input on frame construction and suggesting improvements.
- **Heavy Lifting and Handling**: Safely handle and move heavy materials and completed frames within the workshop, adhering to all safety protocols.
- **Tool Management**: Operate and maintain a variety of hand tools, power tools, and machinery, including saws, drills, routers, and sanders, ensuring they are used safely and effectively.
- **Quality Control**: Inspect completed frames for defects or inconsistencies, making adjustments as needed to meet high-quality standards.
## Skills
- **Woodworking Expertise**: Proficient in advanced woodworking techniques, including cutting, shaping, and joining wood for furniture frames.
- **Carpentry Experience**: Extensive experience in carpentry, with a focus on frame construction for sofas, beds, and other upholstered furniture.
- **Attention to Detail**: Strong ability to fabricate and assemble frames with precision, ensuring all measurements and angles are accurate and components fit together seamlessly.
- **Upholstery Knowledge**: Understanding of upholstery processes and how they impact frame design and construction, ensuring frames are prepared for smooth upholstery application.
- **Material Knowledge**: Familiarity with different types of wood, metal, and composite materials used in furniture framing, with an understanding of their properties and best uses.
- **Physical Stamina**: Ability to perform heavy lifting and prolonged physical work, including standing, bending, and handling large, heavy pieces of wood and other materials.
- **Tool Proficiency**: Skilled in the use of a wide range of hand tools and power tools necessary for frame construction, with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency.
- **Problem-Solving Abilities**: Capable of identifying and resolving issues during the frame construction process, ensuring that the final product meets both structural and design requirements.
