Accounting Manager

Our client is a family-founded business with subsidiaries across plant hire, construction, recreation, and leisure. This role will mainly support two golf clubs, while the company itself. You will manage the full accounting function, working independently while supporting managers and key stakeholders with accurate financial reporting and advice.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare financial reports and monthly management accounts

• Create and manage company and department budgets • Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve profitability

• Maintain accurate financial records, including: Purchase and sales invoices, Bank, POS, and PayPal reconciliations,Sales ledgers and debt chasing, Till takings and supplier payments

• Manage payroll for approximately 100 staff

• Prepare partial exemption VAT returns

• Complete year-end processes and liaise with external accountants

• Ensure compliance with HMRC legislation and reporting (e.g. ONS returns)

• Work closely with managers to improve financial efficiency

Experience & Skills

• AAT, CIMA, or ACCA qualified (or equivalent experience)

• Proven experience in an Accounting Manager or similar role

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles

• Proficient in Sage or Xero

• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills

• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Role Details

• Full-time, permanent

• £40,000–£45,000 per year, dependent on experience

• Possibility of hybrid working
